The City of Chula Vista will unveil a new viewing deck at the Civic Center Branch
Library that overlooks Friendship Park. The 5,000 square foot deck on the north
side allows visitors a new entrance to the library and easy access to the park.
Plans for the deck include events, recreational classes such as Yoga, Aerobics or
Mommy and Me fitness class, Movies on the Deck, and more.
Funding for the deck, which cost $1.3 million, was obtained through a Housing-Related
Parks grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
These grants are used for the creation or rehabilitation of parks and/or recreational
facilities that benefit and add to the quality of life. The architect for the project was Davy
Architect, Inc., and the contractor was Handy Industrial.
The opening will take place at the Chula Vista Civic Center Branch Library
365 F Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910 on Monday June 14, 2021, starting at 4 p.m.
Come support Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas, Chula Vista Councilmembers, Library patrons and community members, Friends of the Library, and Friends of Parks and Recreation for this exciting opening event.
